C. An Original Photograph of Something Beautiful

This photograph was taken at the Berkeley Hotel London at their "Pret-a Portea" fashionista afternoon tea. My travels during my gap year led me to London where I had read rave reviews about an afternoon tea held at the Berkeley inspired by the latest fashion collections. This photograph is not only beautiful due to the amazing collection of cakes and desserts but also in the experience itself. My friends and I received a beautiful menu listing the fashion desserts one after the other: "Paul Smith...Yves Saint Laurent...Jason Wu" and many more. Even the teas were interesting: "chocolate mint truffle...pear caramel". The desserts were all incredibly beautiful and as equally important,  delicious. We all left slightly too satisfied, holding onto our beautiful goodie bags filled with even more desserts, just incase we decided we ever wanted to eat again! It is through this afternoon tea appropriately served upon Paul Smith crockery that I will forever cherish the tradition of tea time in London.

B. An Image of a piece of Architecture that inspires:

Frank Gehry Designed Walt Disney Concert Hall LA (2003)

The Disney Concert Hall in LA is definitely not a shy building. It is this boldness of design that is such an inspiration. Frank Gehry himself is of great interest. The architects ability to go from a rough sketch into a precise model is astounding. Something that makes this piece of architecture even more interesting is the highly polished mirror-like panels that surrounds the Children's Ampitheatre and the Founders Room. This material differs to that of the stainless steel that coats the rest of the structure. It was this material that caused direct glare from the sunlight to affect surrounding houses. This resulted in excessive heat causing air conditioning prices to dramatically increase as well as creating hot spots on the footpaths. However after various complaints the issue was rectified through sanding the panels to dull them.

A. My Best Piece of Creative Work Thus Far....

I created this piece for my body of work for HSC art. Something interesting about this series is that it is centred upon my 3 favourite cities (in order); New York, Tokyo and Paris. My artwork is a series of woodblocks that I hand carved and then printed using different coloured inks upon collaged papers. It was a strenuous process as I wanted the collage underneath the ink to be seen whilst at the same time not loosing the integrity of the print itself. The connection between the three artworks is the built environment. Each print contains buildings from its own cities coupled with random artworks and photos that express the liveliness of each city. It is this which I believe to be an interesting aspect of my creative work.
